The refresh rate is 240Hz and uses a specialized drive system that reduces crosstalk during 3D viewing. There are independent 3D and 2D modes depending on content being watched, and there is also a 3D "upscaling" mode that emulates 3D on older media. This project runs relatively quietly, at about 22 decibels. This projector does require 3D glasses, and Sony recommends use with TDG-PJ1 models in conjunction with a TMR-PJ1 transmitter. Total brightness is 1300 lumens.

MrG: #sony_vpl_hw30es Is the 240Hz refresh rate only self-created by the projector or can it acccept and pass through an external signal at up to 240Hz (ex. for use with nVidia 3d glasses)? Sep 6, 11
